Rose Gold

Rose gold is achieved by adding copper alloy to gold and is used widely when making specialised jewellery. It was popular in Russia at the beginning of the nineteenth century and was known as Russian gold, this term is now rare. The higher the copper content the stronger the red colouration however, the usual mix of copper alloy is 25% to 75% gold. The highest Karat version of rose gold also known as crown gold is 22 Karat. 18 Karat red gold can have a gold content of 75% and 25% copper. 18 Karat rose gold can have 75% gold, 21% copper and 4% silver content.
